Please welcome the newest member of South Wind Brass @acevedo_emmanuel A native of the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, Emmanuel Acevedo is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in trumpet performance from the University of Houston Moores School of Music, as a student of Mark Hughes, Principal Trumpet of the Houston Symphony. As a freelance trumpeter, Emmanuel has had opportunities to perform with the Houston Symphony. He is also a member of the cornet section of the Magnolia City Brass Band, directed by Robert Walp. Meet @waynerkalik.music member of SWB! • Wayner K. Ramón Ortega is a trumpet player from Puerto Rico. For his undergrad he attended the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico where he studied with Roberto Ramirez. During this time, he was active in the musical scene in Puerto Rico as principal trumpet of the Caguas Municipal Band and as an active commercial musician. He also played with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, Puerto Rico Philharmonic Orchestra, Borinquen Brass and other professional ensembles. After he graduated from the Conservatory moved to Houston, TX, where he studied privately with Robert Walp for a year before being accepted in Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a Teaching Assistant Fellowship where he studied with John Rommel to pursue a master’s degree. During his time in Indiana, he played with the premier ensembles of the school, premiered an opera, and was often called to played with regional orchestras in the area. Wayner is the Soprano Cornet player in the Magnolia City Brass Band and is a founder member of the South Wind Brass.
